Malgorzata Pawlak is a physical therapist who is part of LifeCare Home Health & In-Home Care Services COVID-19 Task Force. She is part of a group comprised of nurses and therapists skilled in working with infectious diseases, assuring patient safety, and excellent care.
Malgorzata comes from a family of professionals who work with those suffering from physical disabilities or ailments. Her mother was a special education teacher, focusing on children with physical disabilities. Malgorzata’s husband is presently a frontline physical therapist at a skilled facility and works with COVID-19 patients.
“We know the risks. We try not to think about them. When at work, we only think about the patient and the task at hand.” Malgorzata explained when asked whether or not she felt anxious about the pandemic.
“When the pandemic hit, we had no idea how serious or dangerous it will be. But, we are healthcare professionals. Some people need our assistance, and this was a profession we selected. This is the profession we love.” Malgorzata explained.
When asked about precautions she takes when visiting patients, Malgorzata joked, “I am an expert scuba diver. I am not concerned about all the protective equipment I have to wear.”
As the pandemic continued and COVID cases grew, Malgorzata and the rest of LifeCare’s COVID Task Force displayed skills that make LifeCare Home Health and In-Home Care Service one of the top-ranked medical post-acute providers in the country. She took on some of the most complex cases and helped patients get back on their feet using Physical Therapy and Education. She is one of the most valued members of a Northbrook based healthcare organization that takes on cases all over Illinois. Her knowledge, work experience, and courage make Malgorzata Pawlak a true hero.
